“Letting a child’s light shine through joyful play, happy days, and loving ways.”

Vision:

We seek to create a loving and joyful environment reflective of our East Nashville Community. We believe the early childhood years should be filled with joyful, enriching, creative, musical, and natural experiences. Our goal is to help lay a foundation that will enrich a child’s social and emotional well-being.

Our Program:

We serve children 18 months to 5 years of age, two days per week, from 9am to 2pm. Children have the option of attending Monday and Wednesday OR Tuesday and Thursday.  Our Center is a Parents’ Day Our program and not a licensed day care; therefore, no child may attend both sessions.  Our program runs mid-August through May with an optional summer session for current students.

Learning Philosophy:

Preschool is a precious time in your child’s development.  Eastwood Christian Children’s Center (EC3) respects each individual child. Our play-based environment encourages children to explore their surroundings, develop friendships, and expand their imaginations.

EC3 uses a “whole child” approach of nurturing children’s intellectual, physical, and emotional development.  Every classroom uses a combination of self-directed activities, hands-on learning, and collaborative play every day.  Together teachers and children explore the world through imaginative play, nature, art and creative activities, music, storytelling, using their hands, and physical activity. Every classroom has two teachers and class sizes are purposely kept small (8 to 12 students) to provide an intimate, individualized learning environment for your child.

Our school values peace, community, honesty, social justice and understanding.  We strive to model these values in our daily interactions with your children and to help foster these values in your growing child.

Children go through amazing developments between ages 18 months and five years. In each of our four classrooms children are working on age-appropriate experiences in the following five areas:

·        Play (creativity, imagination, sharing, cooperation, friendships)

·        Feelings (expressing emotion, naming, managing feelings)

·        Everyday skills (feeding, dressing, pottying, cleaning up)

·        Communication (vocabulary, following directions, taking turns, listening)

·        Movement (fine and gross motor skills)
